I don't think anyone is suggesting that the rules are the problem here, and I agree that the lists need to re-evaluate the "conventional wisdom" in cases like this. -And- they need to use more consistent criteria in how they classify things.
Sadly, that isn't going to happen for years.
As far as hoplites go, whether the spolas is linen, leather, one of those covered in scale, bronze, or something else is probably secondary to the big convex bronze-covered shield that provides the majority of their protection in any case. _________________ - Let the Die be Cast |
