Following situation, with units 1 and 2 facing down, A and B facing up.
____22
__11
AABB
Unit 1 is killed. Units A and B pursue, with B contacting corner of unit 2.
____22
AABB
The rules are clear (I think) that unit B conforms to unit 2. But does unit A also slide over as a group conformation? |

I would refer to page 50 last bullet point under "Definition" to say yes.
Because I cannot find any place in the rules that says pursuit is an exception to this rule. |

I agree, had this exact situation in recent game, and came to same conclusion on there being no exception found to the last bullet point as Steve points out. |

To give the opposing view from that player....
P69 Contacting new enemies 1st bullet: The pursuing unit must then immediately conform....
The reference is to the pursuing unit, not the group. I disagreed the limitation but it wasn't an important enough move to argue about on the night. |

I don't think that any part of the specific confirmation process talks about groups since they are set out in the general points noted above, so the fact that it talked about the unit isn't proscriptive.
For what it's worth, your opponent's view was originally mine, until my opponent pointed out the same point as Steve did above. There isn't any exception I could find either. |

The pursuing "unit" must indeed conform per the pursuit rule.
Then we look at page 50 where it says that if the conforming unit is part of a group the rest of the group may move in order to remain aligned.
Your opponent was trying to read something into it that is not there IMHO. |
