Two lists would make a big difference. 
I know it  makes life harder for the Hubert administration. But makes the competition much better. Cuts down on elephants for a start...
Means a lot more armies are viable.

I am also happy with one list. Mainly because I'll only have a cabin bag for luggage!

After discussion between me and the technical board the 1 list open theme was decided !!
the first official anouncement at 16\10\19 included the 1 llist decision as well .
I m pretty sure we will see something new in that tournament

The basic concept behind the 1 list idea was to prevent some major armies fielding almost anything by usage of 2 lists and be strong and competitive against almost anything .
There is a risk behind that decision though which we all took .
we ll see what players will think of armies selection and bring with them .

Although, of course, I respect the organization,s last saying, I agree with Tim and Dave, for an open tournament I definetely go for two lists

For a completely open competition, I too would prefer two lists - really just to avoid the lottery of choosing either knights, elephants or the very clever list that just about copes with the first two kinds of opponents but struggles to do very well.

But, like Inaki, I fully respect the decision of the organisers of the competition to choose a one-list format, because they are doing all the hard work.

I can see the argument for both 1 and 2 lists. Here are the top 10 armies from the last few Worlds that could have contained Elephants. It seems the simpler options is just to ban the previous years top 1 or 2 or 3 armies. I.E. get rid of the Yuan. Getting rid of the Ghaznavids will just make those players adopt the very similar versions of the army.

I must admit banning the Yuan is also personal for me, as they were the only army to defeat in the past two worlds.

The last 3 Worlds were 2-list events.  I think Belgium was the last/first/only 1-list event, which was also when many of the non-French players were quite new to the rules
