I seem to recall seeing Hubert on the attendance list. Can we not just lock him in the toilet until he gives us an 'unofficial' official ruling? |

Page 43, Charge Procedure, 2 - Direction of the charge, BP3:
Citation:
• The charge direction must respect the ZoC of the most threatening enemy
I suppose that could mean just about anything, but I take it as applying some kind of general restriction. I certainly don't see how "respecting a ZoC" can be taken to mean "doing whatever suits you best in a ZoC."

Interesting debate, and let’s continue it on Sunday, or better still let’s wait for a definitive ruling from the DT.
However I do not see how you get “doing whatever suits you best in a ZoC." Ref your quote, considering the whole pg43 bullet point “Citation: • The charge direction must respect the ZoC of the most threatening enemy (see p35)â€. The “charge direction†must target the MTE and will always contact unless they evade away, as per Pg35/36 BP2.

To reassure you on process, this ruling is the consensus of the various luminaries on the rules committee etc. and other knowledgable people from the club, whom i know personally and so could consult with before the weekend. The point has also been submitted by them to their remaining colleagues on the full rules committee for a definitive answer. Â
If it is any consolation it rather screws up my own plans of using light horse ZoC and evade to neuter any cataphracts or other nasties that could threaten my own medium swordsmen.

Please see the first round draw, which is done by date. I still await one final, there is one player who is tba up to the last minute due to family reasons, and always some late minute changes anyway so i will rejig this as required for any no shows on the day.
Everyone will get all 3 games, I will only play if we have an odd number of players. If I play I will use a normal draw for simplicity, but I will be ineligible for the prizes. Having checked 20+ lists I cannot remember contents, but if I need to play my opponents are welcome to swap lists with me at the start of the game so that we both know exactly what is in each army.

485 Schoor 1485 Stone

708 Webb 768 Allen
710 Saunders 858 Bennett

A couple of small changes.
Sean had previously warned me that he might not be able to make it tomorrow, and has now confirmed that he will not be there. He is replaced by Mark Gilby, CLWC, 134 Abbasid Arab |

Well done Harrison.
Good to see that Hvy Cav Impact 1/2 Bow and smaller armies are still viable.

Hi Black Prince,
My army list was as follows:
Command A (+2)
10 x Med cavalry, bow, elite
Command B (+1, Included General)
1 x Heavy cavalry, bow, elite, general
1 x Heavy cavalry, bow, elite
2 x Light cavalry, bow, elite
3 x Medium sword, impetuous
Command C (+0, unreliable)
4 x Light cavalry, bow, elite
Note that I had to use the Sabir Hun list, as the Western Huns did not fit into the tournament date range.
The plan is for Command A to move aggressively along a table edge, with Command B holding the centre and Command C to not die.
Although the list worked well, I also had a bit of luck. My first opponent had only eight cavalry divided evenly onto both wings, which made it pretty easy for me to turn a flank. My second opponent gambled on a flank march, which never arrived. Again, this made it pretty easy for me to turn a flank.
I played my final game against Harrison and his army list was pretty similar to mine, except that he had heavy cavalry, 1/2 impact, 1/2 bow in place of medium cavalry, bow, elite. Things were going my way until the final two turns of the game, when I noticed that Harrison was only two points from breaking. I then made a series of silly moves which gave Harrison a number of free rallies and some easy kills. Although the better man clearly won, the army list worked well and a very similar list managed to scoop first place. In my mind, this is a moral victory for the Huns!!
If I was to make any changes to the list, I would probably ditch the three medium sword, impetuous for three bowmen.

This should be sorted out with an errata, which is currently being proof read and validated. |
