Troops are from the same command, lined-up shoulder to shoulder.

1. Bowmen with stakes, A, B and C plant stakes. Does this cost 1 pip or 3?

2. Bowman A, with stakes is to the left of spearman B (without stakes). Bowman C, with stakes, is to the right of the spearman. Does it cost 1 pip or 2 for A and C to place their stakes?

3. Bowman A, with stakes is to the left of mounted crossbowman B (without stakes). Bowman C, with stakes is to the right of the horseman. Does it cost 1 pip or 2 for A and C to place their stakes?

I would say:
A yes 1 pip, provided rules on groups p 10 are followed
B yes, 1 pip, provided rules on groups p 10 are followed
C no this is 2 pips, as not a group see p10

That was my thought, but I wasn't altogether sure the things cd be planted as a group move.
