Outcome 1 is correct by the rules. Outcome 2 is correct by the rules.

I'd add the diagram on page 44. It seems to indicate it is mandatory for the second element to move into simple support.

But maintaining group integrity appears to be voluntary, so I would add the outcome of a 3 and 1 split (bowling anyone?-) I don't really see how it would ever be beneficial to split up the group, but I'm sure someone can come up with some subtle stratagem.

The answer is Outcome #1 : The entire group can conform

As indicated p 50 Conformation - Definition - last bullet


Remarks :
- page 42 Charge, additional points, second bullet
In your example, all units are in charging range so this point don't apply here
Only units that are in charging range of a target can conform.
Consider examples page 50 : If units A1 and A2 are in charge range but not A3.
Then after contact, A1 and A2 will conform but not A3, because it cannot move more that its charge distance.

This point precise only that unit conform first by sliding and then by pivoting (if necessary)

- Impetuous units
If charging units are impetuous they have to pursue their charge (cf p 43)
So the unit that contact and the other that give support stops their charge but the two others advance up to the maximum distance

I do not understand if the answer is saying that Outcome 1 is allowed, or if it is saying Outcome 2 is not allowed. Page 43, section 8 appears to clearly allow either outcome.
