|
This came up in a game last night.
My opponent & I were uncertain of the rule, but we both felt that it was impossible to split a Corps across a group of units, in an ambush, and another part of the same Corps on a flank march.
The flank march rules (page 79) start by stating that the "The corps sent on a flank march" ... but it does not specifically state, anywhere in this section, that it must be the whole Corps, although we believe that this is the intention of the wording.
The Ambush wording (page 77) states that units are not placed on the table ... so by implication they are also off-table - as are the units in the flank march.
However, our belief (& this is how we have always played it previously) is that the whole Corps must be sent on the flank march. We assume that we are playing this correctly?
Thanks

And when in ambush, the units must form a valid group. So they must be aligned, face the same way, be infantry or mounted etc, and be part of a single corps. |

I believe they the ambushing group may not overlap the deployment space (left to right) of another corps. See the 3rd bullet on p 78.
I think this rule would prevent flank marching part of a corps and ambushing the balance as the ambushers would not be in the same deployment zone as the rest of their corps. |
