Impetuous Cv is just over 3UD distant from LI on a lonely plain. Do the Cv make an uncontrolled charge?
The kicker is the bullet on page 45: "Unit who cannot contact enemy do not make an uncontrolled charge."
Presumably the Cv would have to charge Javelinmen, since they will contact them if they choose not to evade. |

I think they must charge, you do not consider whether the enemy can, will or must evade. |

But you do consider whether you can contact them, and in >3UD case, you cannot. |

I’m saying you consider where they start; if you can charge that location you must charge (unless one of the other prohibitions prevents it). |

Correct Kevin. Where impetuous troops are within charge distance of an enemy unit (prohibitions excepted), they must make an uncontrolled charge unless they receive CP to do something else.Â
Using LI in this way is a key tactic against all impetuous enemy, not just cavalry. |

Clever parsing! it's not an exception, so it is not evaluated a priori. Should read "reach their target" rather than "contact enemy". Maybe in the 6th edition.
Either all evaders "too far" should be excluded or none and this eliminates the oddity. |
