Interesting question on the Facebook forum:
page 79 "Units that flee from a flank march can burst through friends if their path is blocked by enemy units [or terrain] (see p 40)." [my addition - I assume this qualifies as "obvious oversight".]
Does this mean:
A. as a last resort, the fleeing unit will burst through friends, rather than cut the move short
B. will not consider impenetrable friends obstacles and with burst through them rather than slide or wheel to avoid them.
C. something else
Strictly speaking the rules seem to say A, but B seems more in keeping with panicked flight. |

Page 40 limits burst through moves to uncontrolled charges and fleeing from flank marches. So the "can burst through" tags the fleeing units as eligible for burst through and makes otherwise impenetrable friends (other than pikeman and elephants) no longer obstacles. The fleeing unit can only change course to avoid an obstacle (see pp. 48-49)
So B is the right answer. |

I like that thinking. It's not what the rules say, but it's a pretty good case for what they should say. |
