Unless the pixels have suddenly started flowing through the Straits of Hormuz, I’m not sure there’s any particular harm in expressing an opinion on a free and open forum. It’s not as if this forum is overwhelmed with activity on the best of days.
We can obviously disagree about whether a change would make any meaningful difference — that’s rather the point of having a discussion. Some people will think it would save time, others will think it simply moves the problem elsewhere, and no doubt there are those who think the whole thing is a solution in search of a problem.
Ultimately, though, these discussions are probably exercises in futility anyway. It’s the author of the rules who gets to decide what, if anything, changes, and the rest of us will then simply have to play the hand we’ve been dealt.

Does that include 'mutual destructions' (just out of interest)?
NB: I've only ever achieved 1 of these in my many, many years of playing ADLG
I'm in agreement with Tim here ... you enter a competition to compete ... that's what a competition is. So playing to the competition rules and at a reasonable pace is what you sign up to. Club games or friendly games are a very different matter.
But even in a competition like the recent Lisbon one, the only 'slow' play I experienced was from a very inexperienced player, who was struggling with some of the things he could or couldn't do. But he was only too happy to be helped and guided through his rules questions, by me. It made for a very pleasant game and yes, he did ultimately beat me (my combat dice in that game were shocking & his were brilliant), well within time and well under 7 turns _________________ 'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.'
