Movements allowed in a ZOC are pretty clear.
One option is to wheel in order to move closer and align.
Z is a unit starting in the ZOC of enemy A it wants to double wheel to position Y.
ZZZ
_YYY
AAA
1) So does the word Align mean corner to corner and parallel?
I had a more complicated question, but I had been overlooking the word "align" which may resolve a lot of interpreted correctly. |

It's impossible to do that !
Unit Z is in ZOC by unit A. It can only charge unit A, advance strait away to close unit A (front against front, Z can't present his flank to unit A) or wheel to finish align tu unit Z. Or turn to leave the Zoc (1/4 or 1/2 turn and an advance straight away)
ZOC are a pressure on a unit.
You can't double wheel to like you show it :With a wheel or with wheels in one move, no unit can do more than 90°. If you want to do more you must make an 1/4 ou 1/2 turn with eventually a wheel
Or make a another move... |

So you are saying.
If a unit starts to align in a ZOC, it must use 100% of its movement to align. i.e. you cannot choose to just become somewhat more aligned.
Obviously it can charge and then conform. |

First of all I didn't understand really your first example... Sorry... I understood that you want unit Z to present it's flank...
You can't double wheel or wheel in a ZOC... Except for align to unit front. Even for charging A , unit Z can't wheel. But it must conform after the contact. |
