The rules are unclear on what can be shot at. Troops in ambush in a wood are not visible unless approached, but once they are declared there seems nothing to say they cannot shoot or be shot at wherever they are in the wood, or beyond it.
I see elsewhere that troops in a gully are invisible unless within 1UD. Should this apply to other terrain?
The rules talk about blocking line of sight, obviously hills do this, but does any other terrain? |

Hi John,
Take a look at page 48 (terrain cover and fortifications):
If the two units are separated by more than one UD of terrain that gives cover... shooting is not possible.
Looking at the terrain table on page 65, you see that hills, plantations, wood, and villages provide cover. |
