|
An interesting observation where the rules are clear, but I think can be forgotten.
1) While a unit can only receive a single +1 for support from a side, that does not prohibiting multiple units being in support for the purposes of them being defined as "in support".
2) You may not interpenetrate (obviously this includes evade) a unit in support.
Example Below:
L is friendly LI, A is Elephant, B is infantry fighting enemy 1 infantry. 2 is enemy infantry not engaged. So both L an A are in support. But they only contribute +1 to B. Assume the left edge is impassable terrain
2
L1
AB
So A cannot charge or move through L. L cannot evade through A if charged by 2.
As I said its all very clear, but I think a lot of people are so used to the interpenetration of LI that they can forget this. |

What if A is also LI and 2 charges L. Can they both A and L flee? |

Yes because two rules interact.
1) P37 units in overlap may evade if their front edge is not in contact. p 37 bottom.
2) p 38 under evade procedure a group can evade if one of its units have been charged.
So in this case their is no interpenetration issue. |

Just because it is sometimes fun to be a rules lawyer.
What if 1 is a 40mm deep stand (assuming 15mm figures) and L is not touching A (L is towards the rear of stand 1). Now L and A are not part of the same group so I would think L could not flee (at least not very far) even if A were LI.
L would flee far enough to touch A where it would stop. A would still supply overlap but L would die when 2 contacted it (after combat so 2 would not be supporting 1 for this turn). L's death would put a hit on A and assuming 2 did a pursuit move A would then flee. |

If you are blocked you can choose not to evade IIRC |

I believe it is in the same section. It doesn't change the outcome, just the location. |
