In the Delhi 260 list it mentions "Elephants with handgunners", I'm just checking how this is dealt with.

1. It's taken in account which is why the unit is a elite elephant
Or
2. Elephant unit has the ability to shoot 2UD like a light infantry handgunner

I expect the answer is the first one but I thought I'd check.

Elite elephants are Indian elephant with accompanying infantry and/or armor

ordinary éléphants are Indain éléphants

mediocre éléphants are North- African éléphants used with Numidian, Carthaginian and Roman era, before their extinction. They were smaller in size than both Indain and Actual African (Savana) Elephant.

Personally I think that these Elephants should have a missile capability.

If they are actually missile armed (with firearms) they need to cost an additional 2pts, like war wagons with missile capabilities.

This would give them a standard shooting range of 4MU with full effect.

So they would cost 18pts per elephant.

The alternative is to classify them as mixed missile units - again this would cost an additional 2pts and they'd shoot at 4MU but in melee they would drop a moral class (from Elite to Ordinary).

There is a similar issue with the Khmer Elephants with mounted artillery. Again I think that like war wagons with artillery they should be able to shoot at full effect. But that's just my own personal interpretations.
