Is the "bonus" conforming UD in addition to the movement of the unit or the UD used for conforming must come from the movement allowance of the unit ?

I believe that the UD for conforming is a Bonus UD that can be only used after contact is made and is in addition to the movement allowance of the unit but some people in my club believe otherwise.

The 1 UD bonus is granted only for the conformation of an unit or a group,after the initial contact and regardless of the charging distance, due to the fact that, if an unit is not within charging distance at start, it may not charge (including initial slide see FAQ p4).
This bonus may conduct a group to be splitted if some of its units need more than 1 UD to conform.

As Commodore says, it is separate from normal move distances.
It is used to get the units in the charging group into contact and aligned with enemy units.

The additional distance cannot be added to a unit to increase its charge distance, but once in contact the charging unit can be "shuffled". However it can extend the distance that supporting unit(s) move by up to 1UD.
