Hello.
I'm painting a gaul army.

would you recomend me to asign the Gaesati to heavy or Medium infantry?

Where are the elite troop more usable?

Heavy.

The gauls should be 2 Corps of HI and 1 Corps of MI in my view.

Or 2/3rds of your warriors should be heavy.

You can maybe argue a bit differently vs Romans, but I think the HI is a LOT more of a bulwark. The extra cohesion is pretty valuable.

To me, this is easy. The Gaesati should be heavy so they can control the center of the battlefield. Elite makes you tougher to kill. Impetuous heavy swords are decent troops, but not great. The stuff they will lose to mostly need clear terrain. Your best clear terrain troops are the gaesati. In a game where covering the table with bad going is usually difficult, troops that can at least contest clear terrain are essential.
