If I have a column of cavalry can I turn the first unit without turning the others? If so does the rest of the column get shifted back to make space?
This came up in a game today when a column of cavalry moving behind a friendly infantry line was threatened in the flank. The lead unit wanted to charge but a wheel would have meant it charged a spear unit. Dong a quarter turn would have allowed it to attack a bow unit. If the whole line had turned then the other units would have run into their friendly infantry before any contact with the enemy. |

Are any of the units in a ZOC before they turn?
Assume not for the moment.
If you look at the diagram on p 30 the solution is the first unit turns. The 2nd unit moves behind it to allow room. Of course if this is a turn and charge the 2nd unit follows behind in the charge. |

if only the first unit turn and charge, the second is just moved back to allow the turn of the first unit:
AAA A

OK there is no space in my diagramme
but the point remains that you can push friendly unit not in contact with the ennemy to allow others friendly unit to make 1/4 turn. _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |
