The rules are clear that extending from a column uses the reduce movement allowance if the column is in terrain that slows you. What if
a) The column is not in slowing terrain but the result of the extension puts the unit in slowing terrain. What movement speed does it use?
b) Neither the column nor the ending position is in slowing terrain but the straightest path to the extended position is through slowing or impassible terrain. See below

page 27 : " if a unit moves even partially through different types of terrain, then the unit can only move at the lowest distance allowed"
Consequently in your 2 examples you must use the reduce movement allowance.
