In Friday night's game I had some LF javelin units taking on a LMI Javelinmen unit we found it odd that the LF suffer a -2 terrain penalty whereas LMI or MI only suffer a -1 terrain penalty. Is this correct of did we miss something?

I believe that is an awkward bullet. The bullet applies to HI an WWG only,
Next bullet is MI and LMI
since LI has no bullet they get no minus

Your book I understand is different.

For all types I take it to mean all types of foot.
So LI MI LMI HI WWG and Art.

As MI and LMI are covered in second bullet it's resonable to ignore them.
WWG and Art cannot enter difficult so irrelevant for them.

Leaving us with LI and HI.
So original poster is reasonable in questioning issue. Especially as Reference sheet words it how one expected it.

So "types" should be replaced with "HI" on p57 ie modified

This is not unclear. Verbatim from English addition:

HI or WWg: -1 in rough going or -2 if heavy spearmen or pikemen. -2 for all types in difficult terrain.

I agree with Ethan. This point ony applies to HI and WWg, with 'all types' referring to any HI except heavy spearmen or pikemen.

Thanks for your replies yes when I re-read it now it all the if statements mean as LI are not mentioned their combat factors are not affected by terrain but at 10pm during the middle of a game for the first time it was not that clear.

My mistake - problem when typing tired. Its -2 for all types of HI/WWg in difficult terrain.
