I guess it’s just fine that a Thessalian Army has 12 mandatory units.
But shouldn’t a Thessalian Ally Corp. have one of those little stars and a note saying: the Hoplites are not required as part of the allied force?

Probably not.
If I can use DBM Army Lists Book 1 to explain this, in DBM Early Hoplite Greek 680BC-450BC, you only get an all-mounted Thessalian allied command with Athenian armies after 511 BC.
And in a Thessalian army, you could only substitute 1/3 of the hoplites with LH. According to the DBM restrictions for allied commands, the Thessalian army would still have to include some (25% of 2/3 minima) HI in each of its commands (because all commanders are 'allied' and not 'subordinate').
So in AdG, unless you house-rule it, you'll need to take the compulsory 3 HI in your Allied Thessalian command. _________________ "When one goes, one must go with style." |
