If I was able to turn my entire line of HI and walk away from your HI even if you got within 1 UD, it would allow a nefarious player to march into the board and turn and march away even at very close distances. This would lead to all sort of shenanigans and negative play and table sitting.
Second, the igo-ugo nature of games creates anomalies that don't sit right. Are you really getting close to me or not? So a ZOC in general is also a way to add stablity to the igo-ugo system and this also connects to the ZOC from the rear. the restriction to limit someone from walking away is also a way to tame the problems of an igo -ugo system. |
