How are the “Western Frank Allie’s (List #154 Later Franks) except in 1066†treated from 1050-1171?
That list ends in 1049 AD, but the wording of this Norman list implies they should be an optional ally in either 1065 or 1067 AD. (1) Should you be allowed a Frankish ally from 1050-1065 and 1067-1071? (2) Or should one be taking Feudal French (list 182) during these dates? (3) Or you are just prohibited from taking them from 1050 and the whole 1066 line is irrelevant?
I suspect (3) is what they literally say but that (2) was intended. (I suppose it’s largely irrelevant as a Norman unreliable general can get everything the French get except a couple of MI Sw, a unit of Levy and maybe an extra couple of LI.) |

There’s no evidence I can see of French allies fighting alongside the Normans in Italy. The issue with the dates of the Frankish lists should be cleaned up.
The Western Frankish ally should be modified as follows:
1. Western Frankish Allie’s (List #154 Later Franks) before 1050 AD except if Normans in Italy or Sicily.
2. Western Frankish Allie’s (List #182 Feudal French) from 1050 AD except if Normans in Italy or Sicily or in 1066. |
